This study investigated how the number of air pollution particulates, particularly plastic and non-plastic particles (NPP), could be found in term placentas. Placenta tissues were collected from both vaginal and caesarean section deliveries at a tertiary care centre in an urban Canadian city. Particles detected and characterized by Raman micro-spectroscopy. Identification was carried out using LabSpec 6 software suite and KnowItAll software and KnowItAll spectral database.
