Horiba Scientific investigates the types of polymers used in fishing equipment to determine how best to recycle the leftover material. Raman spectroscopy offers a good solution in determining the polymers, polymer variant, as well as additives present in the equipment.

Horiba's MacroRAM benchtop Raman spectrometer obtained the spectra, which were then compared with KnowItAll Raman spectral library in order to verify the identify of the polymer found.
