In situ Raman Spectroscopy Monitors the Corrosion of Mild Steel in a Salt Fog Chamber

Technique: Raman

Applications: Environmental

Products: KnowItAll Raman Spectral Library, KnowItAll Software

The impact of corrosion on materials such as steel can have environmental and safety consequences and can be difficult to document.

This study uses Raman spectroscopy to study steel under various conditions in order to document how external factors such as salt or extreme dry conditions can effect the steel. The spectra obtained by the Wasatch Photonics Raman spectroscopy system (WP-785-R-SR-LMMFC-25 spectrometer connected to an RP-785 Raman probe) were confirmed using KnowItAll Raman Spectral Library.
