Identifying illicit street drugs with Raman spectroscropy is problematic due to the concentration of target molecule available and the impurities in the sample. This study utilizes a swept-source Raman spectrometer with a single spectral channel and a tunable laser to improve optical throughput and sensitivity. Heroin with 1% purity could be identified and was verified using the KnowItAll Raman spectral library.
