The Covid pandemic increased the amount of hazardous, medical waste created by single-use personal protective equipment (PPE). This medical waste has to be sterilized before it can be recycled. This study used KnowItAll software and KnowItAll Raman spectral library to look at the chemical composition of the materials used to make up the PPE pre- and post treatment.
