This Horiba Scientific study uses Raman spectroscopy to identify the composition of commercially available fabrics to check the level of plastics contained within.

Macoscopic measurements were collected using a MacroRam benchtop Raman spectrometer (Horiba), equipped with a TouchRaman BallProbe (Marqmetrix), whereas microscopic measurements were collected using a XploRA Plus (Horiba Scientific) confocal Raman microscope. The KnowItAll Raman Spectral Library was used to confirm the origins of the plastics contained in the samples.
