This article provides a historical background to infrared microspectroscopy and provides examples of applications and tools which can be used to analyse the resulting spectra. KnowItAll IR spectral library is used to identify the spectra, obtained by mIRage photothermal infrared microspectrometer from Photothermal Spectroscopy Corp, in the examples.
